That one is a combination of tons of different crafts so if you want something about cross stitch, scrapbooking, quilting, crochet, knitting, etc. that blog will be perfect!Anonymoushttp://www.blogger.com/profile/02830025785286460359noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-1467017077513193876.post-6639975165653712222009-10-02T11:56:00.000-07:002009-10-02T12:09:43.619-07:00Hand Quilting ServiceHey everybody!!! I have decided to start a small hand quilting service for all of you quilting ladies who whip out tops before you can hand-quilt them! I am starting small so I will do any size that is between mini size and lap quilts. In addition, on lap sizes, I will only quilt straight lines, while with minis or wall hangings, I will quilt anything! Please note that I will not buy the backing and batting for you. You must include that while shipping you top. Also, if you include extra fabric in a contrasting or matching color, I will cut and bind your quilt for you.

I am also trying to sell custom quilts. If you know of anyone who might be interested in this service, please direct them to this post! If any of you are interested, I have a business card that I can have printed and sent to you for distribution. I just might have a giveaway if I get enough sales! Please make sure to post a comment if you are interested in any of the things mentioned here!

P.S. Tomorrow I will post my quilts... I hope!
Anonymoushttp://www.blogger.com/profile/02830025785286460359noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-1467017077513193876.post-33713270037322873312009-09-26T11:18:00.000-07:002009-09-26T11:24:34.535-07:00My Group!!I just started a group on Flickr for people to use up their scraps. These pieces I'm talking about are actually less than two inches square. I know that you have them! You know those really small pieces that you either toss or stash in plastic bins or cardboard boxes somewhere? Join me as I create blocks weekly with these tiny pieces! Here is the link.

I hope to see you there!!
Anonymoushttp://www.blogger.com/profile/02830025785286460359noreply@blogger.com3tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-1467017077513193876.post-4690198077298290012009-09-15T14:09:00.000-07:002009-09-15T14:20:09.334-07:00Scrap Fun!!
Today I was doing some more quilting and as you can see, I managed to add two more blocks to my string quilt. I think it is turning out good and I am having a lot of fun seeing that I have made several blocks of string quilting but no whole quilt tops or finished quilts. Recently I have been working on a lot of quilts that in past years, I have actually put away and forgotten. It is fun to sort through some old projects and start working on them again! It's kind of like rediscovering old friends!

Also, with some of the scrap fabrics that I received in the mail, I added some hexagons to my quilt. It's a letter quilt and it uses Tonya's technique of making letters. I actually took the idea from her blog, but I am improvising. One was an envelope and the other was a shoebox. I was definitely pleasantly surprised! I am so excited to get started using them and I want to really bad! I just about died when I saw those packages in the mail! If anyone else wants to send me some "squishies" or any other type of goodie, leave a comment with your e-mail and I will get back to you.

As soon as possible I want to get ahold of my friend Elizabeth (she's 12 as well) and I'm going to teach her to quilt! Her family has a sewing machine but doesn't know how to use it... then we are going to start a book publishing, quilt making, pattern selling, fabric line creating business!!! I'm so excited!

Thanks again for those packages ladies! I am looking forward to them!
Anonymoushttp://www.blogger.com/profile/02830025785286460359noreply@blogger.com1tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-1467017077513193876.post-82984766486594890222009-09-06T14:07:00.000-07:002009-09-06T14:15:56.089-07:00Checking UpIs everyone purposely avoiding me for some strange reason!! Or are you looking and not posting? Or not even looking? I sorta feel that maybe I've been bragging? I'm sorry if any of you feel that way and I sincerely apologize. Well anyways, my brother's birthday is today and we actually celebrated yesterday. That is the reason I didn't post yesterday. So tomorrow I have a couple of things in store for you guys... a quilt I made for my brother's b-day and a tutorial on how to make a yo-yo. How does that sound to all of you??? I'm very sorry I don't have any quilting related stuff for you guys today but I don't have much time. I'm going to a campfire and have to be there at 6:30 and I have stuff to do. See you tomorrow!Anonymoushttp://www.blogger.com/profile/02830025785286460359noreply@blogger.com3tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-1467017077513193876.post-18167333022635727312009-09-04T11:07:00.000-07:002009-09-04T11:23:58.945-07:00Patches
Here is another quilt top that I have been working on recently. As you can see, I am missing a row and I'm going to work on that later today. I Actually designed this one myself too and want to put a solid thin inner border, a square in a square middle border, and an outer border the same material as the inner one. Another thing that I have been thinking about doing is designing my own fabric lines. Would any of you be interesting in buying some if I can actually get it manufactured? If so, what would you like to see on that material?

Do you remember those little stacks of four-patches that I was making as leaders and enders? Today I have been working on assembling a lot of those odd blocks of mine into a top. Some of them are paper pieced but most are just pieced as normal. Also, some of them are string pieced. Some of the designs I created myself, and those are the ones I am most proud of. The star string pieced block is Bonnie Hunter's Spiderweb quilt. I wanted to create a whole quilt out of those blocks but I ran out of the green plaid and a friend had given it to me... no way to track down more of it. So I ended up with about two blocks nagging at me. Most of the blocks, though, are ones that I just was testing a pattern and I decided not to make a whole quilt of them but I just couldn't toss them out. This is actually just laid out on my floor, though, not actually sewn so it's not really finished. I know all of you out there reading this have plenty of UFOs (UnFinished Objects) so I encourage you to assemble them into a top and get them out of your way!

Here you see the pieces that I am about to assemble into a nine patch. I am just working on random things right about now and these pics are from about a week ago...

And here is the finished nine patch! I really like the way this turned out and am probably going to do something with it... not quite sure what yet though!

Another thing I need to do next time I go to the store is get some piecing thread... I don't have any! I am most likely going to resort to drastic measures... hand piecing with the thread out of my sewing kit! lol! Also, if any of you have any ideas on how I could sell quilts to make some extra money, that would be most helpful. I want to be able to sell quilts so that I can buy more fabric! I don't really have all that much... well, I guess I'll post some more tomorrow. See ya!

Anonymoushttp://www.blogger.com/profile/02830025785286460359noreply@blogger.com3tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-1467017077513193876.post-52825177136233837352009-09-01T11:07:00.000-07:002009-09-01T11:37:40.366-07:00Fun With AppliqueWell I'm back and ready to tell all of you out there some more about my quilting life for today! First off, I'm just going to post a picture of myself so that you can see more about my personality.

LOL! Do you like it? And yes, I do wear contacts!!! Ok, now onto quilting...

I have been working on an applique beauty that includes a little piecing. If you enlarge it, you can see that I made a major mistake with trimming it up... well you win some you lose some!

And now I'm actually going to show you a picture of a book that I am going to be making a quilt out of someday when I can actually get the money to get the right fabric! The book is called One
Block Wonders Encore!

Sorry that it isn't turned the right way but I can't quite get it to turn! Well anyways, I highly recommend this book. Also make sure to vote on my new poll! I'm back for now and I'm here with another tutorial. But first, let me thank all of you for your amazing comments. If you are one of the people who posted who wanted to send me scraps, the scraps only have to be around 2 inches square, but only that because I am doing English Paper Piecing. But that tutorial is for another day. Today I am going to be talking about creating crazy quilt squares.

First you need to gather some supplies. With crazy quilts you can use the tiniest of scraps. Thankfully it just needed to dry out and now it's working as if nothing had ever happened. So today I didn't get much of any quilting done today, but tomorrow I should have another tutorial for you. Thank you so much for all of the awesome comments on my posts and I really appreciate all of you encouraging me like that!

So my Mom's friend Leah, is going to adopt a little baby boy and is working at raising enough money to adopt him. His due date is on the 8th of September and they just found out on Wednesday that they were going to be allowed to adopt him. They are going to be selling T-shirts and accepting donations on their blog at http://hadrianswallofhope.blogspot.com/ so be sure to head on over there to become a follower of her blog!!!

Okay... now please please please give me an honest opinion on this, because I want this blog to be something for all of you to enjoy as well as something I enjoy creating. Tell me, honestly, what you want to see on this blog. All you people out there reading this but not wanting to post a comment... post away! Don't be embarrassed about saying what you want to see... I am now asking you to! I don't care if you follow my blog or not. Just DO IT!!! Tell me what kind of tutorials you want to see, give suggestions for patterns, talk about certain techniques... I REALLY want to know! If I don't know what it is, I'll find out and try it. I'm always looking for inspiration so please! Also, make sure to tell me what you are always looking for in quilting blogs. I will post something similar to this once a week, so you will be forced to get it all out! lol! Okay now just comment! Please!Anonymoushttp://www.blogger.com/profile/02830025785286460359noreply@blogger.com7tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-1467017077513193876.post-5174886734915142462009-08-28T11:41:00.000-07:002009-08-28T12:09:00.024-07:00Dear Jane and Hand Quilting...Yesterday I made a promise to myself that every 30 minutes I spend working on piecing or applique, I owe myself 15 minutes working on hand quilting. This could actually work for anything you don't enjoy doing... quilting or maybe even hand stitching bindings to the backs of quilts. Here are a couple pictures of my quilt in the hoop.

And I'm not going to show you any more of that quilt! lol! Today's post is actually going to be about making a string block and then I will show you my progress on my string quilt. I think that you will have fun following the tutorial and I will have fun creating it! Please excuse my blurry pics... I will replace them later on if you can't follow easily! Here we go!

The first thing you are going to need are strings. Strings can be anything long and thin and as wide as only 1/2". Here is a picture of my strings.

<img style="margin: 0px auto 10px; The white is also from my stash. It was fun to do but does use quite a few tiny pieces. It finishes at about 4 1/2"
and I think that it looks like some type of pinwheel. Sometimes it's just nice to grab some fabric from your stash and just sew a block. The reason I like Dear Jane so much is because it is like a sampler and if I have to make the same block with the same fabrics over and over again I think that I would be bored out of my skull! This block I would like to make a full sized quilt out of it but they would all have to have different main fabrics or I would still get bored. That's why I like scrap quilts so much, as you will soon find out!Anonymoushttp://www.blogger.com/profile/02830025785286460359noreply@blogger.com1tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-1467017077513193876.post-14551904458247083962009-08-25T12:01:00.000-07:002009-08-25T12:11:58.180-07:00Stashbusting...Today I have been working on a certain mini quilt that uses scraps and stash. I can't quite remember the name right now, but I do know that I got the pattern from an issue of Better Homes and Gardens Quilting magazine. It's been fun working on it and eventually I will post a picture of it in progress. In the border there will be applique so I'm really looking forward to that part! As you read my blog more you will see how much I am enjoying hand applique. It is so fun and relaxing. The problem is that it is TIME CONSUMING! That's why I like it so much on mini quilts. I am also experimenting with machine quilting. I have a darning foot but I can't for the life of me figure out how to lower the feed dogs! Any suggestions would be very helpful. Another thing that I need to post a picture of is my current quilting project... a quilt that I like to call Jacob's Coat. It uses appliqued flowers. What I am working on is hand quilting baptist fans in an all-over pattern. It's going slowly but I'm getting somewhere! Guess I'll have more to say tomorrow. Bye!Anonymoushttp://www.blogger.com/profile/02830025785286460359noreply@blogger.com2tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-1467017077513193876.post-50171970350308370262009-08-24T12:57:00.000-07:002009-08-31T18:11:35.059-07:00Hi!Hi there! This is going to be my quilting blog... someday I might actually find some time to work on sewing of any kind though. Well, I actually found some time to post and I found this survey on Sew Mama Sew's Blog so I thought it a good way to get started up...

What do you usually sew?
Quilts are my specialty...

When you shop for fabric, what size cuts do you usually buy? (i.e. If you see something beautiful, but you don’t have a use for it right away, how much do you buy?)
Ummmm, normally I try to limit myself to 1/2 yard cuts...

Do you buy on impulse or do you go out looking for something you need?
I normally go out looking for something I need but am known for impulse buying at good sales...

Are you a pre-washer? If you are, do you wash your fabric before you need it, or only when you’re ready to use it?
I do try to pre-wash but sometimes it's hard to wait for it to finish!

Do you iron it?
I do but I hate it!

How do you sort it? (color, print size, collection, etc.)
I don't actually have enough to even sort it yet. (At least that's my excuse! lol!)

Do you have any special folding techniques?
Not really, just if it's small I sometimes fold it like a hand towel...

How do you store your fabric?
I have it in stacks by my sewing machine!

What tips do you have for building up a well-rounded stash?
What I just started doing is when I go out to buy something for a project I'll buy a little extra. (i.e. If I need 2 1/2 yards I'll buy 3)

When do you say enough is enough?
Ummmm... I DON'T!!! LOL!

What are some of your favorite stash-busting projects?
I love scrap quilts of any kind.

Do you have a current favorite print in your stash?
